The setting on most pressure reducer valves is 12 PSI. That is likely the pressure on your boiler system. The pressure reducer can be adjusted to increase or decrease the pressure depending on the boiler system. Additionally, if you have a bladder-type expansion tank, then the pressure for the tank should be checked for proper pressure.

CONTROLLING BOILER SWELL AND SHRINK - Babcock
If the steam output from the boiler is reduced suddenly, the pressure will increase in the boiler circuit. This increase of pressure will cause the drum level to shrink initially and then increase due to the higher inflow than outflow. The inverse is true when the steam output from the boiler …
why negative pressure is maintained in furnace?
Jan 07, 2012 · So negative is when the fan is sucking poc from the chamber and creating a negative pressure inside, How is it classed with the pre mix burner as in the HE boilers are they positive ? Technically new premix burners are positive pressure, but not in the conventional sense. The fan is not putting the case under positive pressure.
When the boiler kicks on the gauge barely goes above 0 psi, and after heating the gauge will drop to about negative 5 -7 psi. It eventually settles back to 0 psi if the heat does not run for a while. I will also add that most of the house heats up except for the room farthest from the boiler. And the water level appears correct on the sight tube.
May 03, 2017 · May 03, 2017. Depending are two types of boiler depending on pressure:-. Positive pressure :- When the pressure in combustion area of the boiler is more than atmospheric pressure, normally forced draft boilers, HRSG are positive pressure. Negative pressure :-When the pressure in combustion area of the boiler is less than atmospheric pressure.
