Up to 90% of the heat normally lost through boiler flue gas stack emissions is recycled by FLU-ACE®. This is possible because FLU-ACE®'s unique direct contact (gas/liquid) design enables optimal recovery of both sensible (dry) heat and latent (wet) heat, even in widely varying operating conditions.
At the same recycle ratio, dry recycle oxy-fuel results in a lower gas flow rate than wet recycle because water vapor is removed. By increasing proportions of flue gas recycled from 50% to 80%, oxygen concentrations at burner inlet decrease from 53% to 24% and 45% to 19% for dry recycle and wet recycle conditions respectively, as indicated in Fig. 9.3 .
